The richly
decorated raftered ceiling with bas-relief decorations gives the impression of
being supported by projecting corbels (key-stones).
Above the door there is an elaborate, semi-circular tympanum showing the
Byzantine (Eastern Roman Empire) cross, modelled on the Church of St.Sergius in
Constantinople.
